ICRC Releases 800 Names of Missing Nepalis
A year ago, Nepal was branded the country of the missing, with the largest number of missing cases ever in any conflict in recent history. Identifying those missing has been a daunting task. The ICRC has published the names of more than 800 people unaccounted for in the country's conflict. The numbers inlclude only the names of people being sought by their relatives. The ICRC says they have so far collected the names of 2,400 names of the missing. Respect rigts of the family members to know the fate of their missing loved ones, the rights body says.

Is it safe to make these names public? What if the Moaists and the government conspire?

How about releasing the names of all the 2,400 missing people that ICRC says it has collected? Is there any internatioanl law baring the release of all names?

I can't locate the link on Gorkhapatra with the names of the missing. The ICRC sites says they would publish it too. Any luck finding the link? I have only this news story.

Just realising the names of the missing people will NEVER do. There must be a fair and vesible investigation into this matter, into each individual's case.
What the government will do for this and how it will handle the case will tell how serious and faithful and people loving leaders we have got.
The international community and various organisations fighting for peace and freedom should help do the investigation fairly. Otherwise the real facts and truths about those missing people can be hidden and even destroyed either by the state or by the rebel groups (NOT TO FORGET MAOISTS).
