Nepal Declines in Economic Freedom Index

The 2011 Economic Freedom of the World report ranks Nepal 129th among 141.

Nepal ranks 129th among 141 countires in the Economic Freedom of the World report 2011. It has a a score of 5.50. Last year, the country was ranked 121st with a score of 5.54.

The report shows a steady decline of economic activity in Nepal over the last decade; its score was 5.75 in 2000. The report notes that Nepal does not fare well in all the five areas of economic freedom; size of government, access to sound money, freedom to trade internationally and Regulation of Credit, Labour, and Business and legal structure and security of property rights.
